We love the new Sicce Mega Filtra series of external aquarium canister filters.  They are designed for medium-to-large freshwater or saltwater aquariums and emphasize multi-stage filtration, quiet operation, and easy maintenance. 

Core Features

1. Multi-Stage Filtration (10–13 stages)

  • Combines mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration.

  • Uses layered media such as:

    • Biofoam sponges

    • Aquamat filter pads

    • Hypercarbo activated carbon

    • Hyperzeo zeolite

    • Bioker ceramic rings

  • The staged design maximizes contact time with media for better water clarity and biological stability.

2. Integrated Pre-Filter

  • A dedicated pre-filter sponge captures large debris before water enters the main baskets.

  • Helps:

    • Extend media life

    • Reduce clogging

    • Make maintenance easier.

3. Quick-Prime System

  • Built-in priming button/mechanism.

  • Allows fast, spill-free startup without manual siphoning.

4. Adjustable Flow Rate

  • Flow can be adjusted to match aquarium needs (planted tanks, reef systems, high-flow fish).

  • Improves circulation and oxygenation.

5. Quiet, Energy-Efficient Operation

  • Designed with vibration-reducing components and efficient motors.

  • Typical power use:

    • ~24–32 W depending on model.

6. Large Media Capacity

  • Multiple media baskets (3–4 depending on model).

  • Up to ~9.5 L of filter media in larger versions.

  • 360° rotating hose connectors for flexible plumbing.

  • Spray bar and adjustable intake/outlet included.
