World's Largest Coral Found

A behemoth coral was discovered in October 2024 near the Solomon islands.  The coral is called a Shoulder Blade coral (scientific name Pavona clavus).  It's made up of nearly a billion stoney polyp corals. Coming in at roughly 110 feet wide, 105 feet long and 20 feet tall, this coral is longer than the average blue whale.  Read more about this massive coral!
